Earlier this year (May) the organist Kevin Bowyer released a recording of a transcription of Saint-Saen's tone-poem 'Danse Macabre'. Now that is a truly macabre and utterly untwee? piece of music for organ.
Thanks for the pointer. Saint-Saens tends to be remembered mainly for the Carnival, but I've enjoyed recordings of his symphonies and piano concertos.
